Josephine loves her walks on the trail. We have likely put in hundreds of miles on this fine greenway. Every trip is like a new trip for her. For a scent hound, this must be pretty close to scent heaven. This cache is not quite on the trail (getting pretty full there), but in the neighborhood.
If you wind back the clock far enough, George Washington had an impact on where the canal is, and thus where the trail is. General Washington was a surveyor and mapmaker, having received his instruction in surveying from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, and was a primary leader in getting this area, including Lake Drummond and the canal, surveyed.
And so Josephine, who enjoys this canal so much, decided that we must pay homage to General Washington, the Father of our Country, with a challenging (means HARD) cache along the canal.
So, come one, come all to celebrate and honor The Father of our Country!
