I suppose this will be the first of many caches named after Josephine, so welcome to “Josephine, the Original!”
So here’s the story: Josephine and I were out for a walk on a beautiful, clear, brisk February day. We were almost done the walk, two geocaches found, and were close to the parking lot where we left the car. All of a sudden, Josephine bolts into the thicket. She is, after all, a Basset Hound and so she follows her nose. I, good citizen that I am, had Josephine on her leash. All 38 of her pounds were pulling furiously and there I went, much to my surprise, into overgrowth much taller than me. Good thing I was able to stop her, because a few feet ahead was a small drop-off that, had I not seen it, would have caused me a tumble.
Finally, we broke into a small clearing and Josephine stopped charging and started sniffing. We spent a good bit of time there with Josephine and I enjoying our seclusion and a pretty view. Josephine found one location in particular that she liked a lot. She did a lot of sniffing, looked at me, looked at the spot, looked at me, and so on. Finally, I got the message: Josephine was telling me this would be a great place for a cache. “True,” I said to Josephine, “your geo-senses are working today!” So, I tucked away the only cache I had in my swag bag. It’s a spontaneous placement, 35mm container (update Nov 6, 2022: no longer a 35mm), so BYOP and happy hunting! Watch your step!
This cache is one of the my eighteen placed
caches and one of thirteen in the world-famous
Josephine Series :
Congratulations to First-to-Find
