Welcome to North Carolina! This cache is near the North Carolina Welcome Center on US Highway 17 in Camden County.
North Carolina has many official state things. We have a state flower (dogwood) and state bird (cardinal) like every other state. We also have a state insect (honeybee), state fruit (scuppernong grape), state shell (scotch bonnet; say bonay), state tartan (Carolina tartan, pictured in the margin), state Christmas tree (Frasir fir), and many, many, many more.

Here's to the land of the long leaf pine,
The summer land where the sun doth shine,

Where the scuppernong perfumes the breeze at night,
Where the soft southern moss and jessamine mate,

This cache can be retrieved by starting at the parking area for the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center or the parking area for the Dismal Swamp State Park (heed posted hours of operation). Josephine recommends against parking on US 17.
The terrain is fairly level and the vegetation can be dense. You are looking for a small, well camoed cache.
