Geocache Description:

The International System of Units (SI), commonly known as the metric system, is the international standard for measurement. The SI plays an essential role in international commerce and is commonly used in scientific and technological research and development. This cache is part of the SI geoart that allows you to learn about the SI units. Visit the introduction cache to learn more about this geoart.

Energy: joule (J)

The joule is the SI derived unit of energy. One joule is equal to the energy transferred to an object when a force of one newton acts on that object in the direction of its motion through a distance of one metre, i.e. N × m.

Joule also equals:

  • kg × m2 / s2
  • Pa × m3
  • W × s
  • C × V

Assuming the gravity is 9.80665 m/s2, to lift an object that weighs 10 kilograms, 9.80665 × 10 = 98.0665 newtons of force is needed. If the object is lifted by 2 metres, it gains 98.0665 × 2 = 196.133 joules of energy.

Power: watt (W)

The watt is the SI derived unit of power. It is defined as 1 joule per second.

If it takes 5 seconds to lift the aforementioned object, the power (aka rate of energy transfer) is 196.133 / 5 = 39.2266 watts.

This Geocache

yoursunny transfers energy to barbell

yoursunny lifts a barbell up 39.9 centimetres. The bar weighs 20 kg, and each side is loaded with one 45lb plate, one 25lb plate, and one 10lb plate. Assuming the gravity is 9.80665 m/s2, how much joules of energy did the barbell gain? Round it to an integer to get ABC.

yoursunny spends 5.8 seconds to lift that barbell. How much watts of power did he output? Multiply by 10 and round it to an integer to get DEF.

Final coordinates: N 39° 08.ABC W 077° 08.DEF

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Cache container is a baby-nano with tiny log sheet. A pair of tweezers is mandatory for log retrieval. To conserve space, please omit the date and write the first two letters of your username only.

Some hides are located along a road without sidewalk. For your safety, please walk on the grass out of the car lanes, and avoid going at night without wearing a safety vest.
