Der Bundesplatz
Der Bundesplatz entstand Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, als die zwischen 1570 und 1630 aufgeschüttete Fläche des oberen Grabens – ein Teil der mittelalterlichen Stadtbefestigung von 1256 – gegen Osten erweitert wurde. Dafür wurden verschiede Häuser und ein Casino abgerissen, welche die Sicht auf das Bundeshaus versperrt hätten.
Jahrzehntelang diente der Bundesplatz vor allem als Parkplatz, was der Bedeutung des Platzes natürlich nicht gerecht wurde. Aus einem 1991 durchgeführten nationalen Gestaltungswettbewerb ging das Projekt «Platz als Platz» als Sieger hervor. Dieses wurde zwischen 2002 und 2004 realisiert und am 1. August 2004 offiziell eingeweiht.
Auf dem Bundesplatz finden Staatsempfänge, politische Kundgebungen, diverse Veranstaltungen und jeweils dienstags und samstags der Berner Märit statt.
Gesäumt wird der Bundesplatz von den Regierungs- und Parlamentsgebäuden auf der Südseite und von den mächtigen Bauten der Schweizerischen Nationalbank im Osten sowie der Berner Kantonalbank im Westen. Auf der Nordseite befinden sich der Bärenplatz und der Waisenhausplatz, welche ebenfalls aus der Zuschüttung alter Wehrgräben entstanden sind.
Der Cache
Lade dir diese Cartridge (aktuelle Version 1.3 / deutsch und englisch) herunter und begib dich nach Bern auf den Bundesplatz.
Dort angekommen spielst du eine Runde Monopoly und organisierst dabei alles, was es für den Bau und Betrieb eines Hotels auf dem Bundesplatz braucht. Nachdem du dein Hotel fertig gebaut und eröffnet hast, erhälst du die Koordinaten für den Final.
Der Cache befindet sich nicht direkt auf dem Bundesplatz sondern versteckt sich in ca. 500 Meter Entfernung. Vergiss nicht, dir den Bonuscode auf der Banknote zu notieren!
Parliament square
Parliament square was formed at the end of the 19th century when the area of the upper moat - part of the medieval town fortification - that was filled in between 1570 and 1630, was extended eastwards. Various buildings and a casino were torn down as they would have impaired the view of the parliament building.
For decades, parliament square was mainly used as a parking lot, which didn't do justice to the significance of the square. "Platz als Platz" (square as space) was the winning project of a national design contest held in 1991. The project was realised from 2002 to 2004 and officially inaugrated on August 1st 2004.
Parliament square is used for state recceptions, political manifestations, various events and on Tuesdays and Saturdays the Bernese market takes place here.
Parliament square is surrounded by administrative buildings on the south, the mighty buildings of the Swiss National Bank on the east and the Bernese Cantonal Bank on the west side. On the north side it connects to the Bären (bear) and Waisenhaus (orphanage) squares, which were also formed when old moats were filled in.
The Cache
Download the Cartridge (actual version 1.3 / german and english) and go to parliament square.
Once you arrive there, you will play a game of monopoly and organise everything that is needed for the construction and operation of a hotel on parliament square. After building and opening your hotel, you will receive the final coordinates.
The cache is not located directly on parliament square but about 500 meters away. Don't forget to write down the bonus code from the bank note!
