Note, by attending this event you confirm you accept all risks of visiting this location personally, plus please dress for the conditions and bring a snack/drink. The location is exposed so in the case of very rough (dangerous) weather, Top Rock Hill to the south, on St Martin's and overlooking White Island, is the back-up location. If even that is a dumb place to be (thunderstorm, rain of hellfire, etc.) then The Seven Stones pub is the back-up back-up venue. Along with every other visitor to the island... it's a 10.15am boat from St Mary's, and a 4.45pm boat back. Dogs to be kept on a lead while on White Island please.
An additional treat for Trig Point fans is what I believe to be the UK's second most remote TP, on St. Martin's. It's 41Km to the next Trig, at Land's End on the mainland. There's also a good selection of geocaches on the islands - something new on each set since 2012 anyway...
Speaking of caches, for anyone interested in old ones, The Isles of Scilly are a jewel, featuring as they do Pulpit Rock (22/08/2001) and Scilly Island Hopper (06/09/2001); two of the 27 oldest caches in the UK are here!
This is the 10th in a series of Remote events. The others being:
2015 on Mull (atop only island Munro not on Skye),
2014 on Jersey (tidal island),
2013 on Skye (a non-event at the InPinn),
2012 on Bryher (IoS/England's most westerly),
2011 on Eigg, Small Isles (An Sgurr, Eigg's highest point),
2010 south of Jersey (tidal island, Britain's most southerly-ish),
2009 on Unst, Shetlands (overlooking Muckle Flugga. UK's most northerly),
2008 on St Agnes (IoS/England/UK's most southerly) and
2007 on St Kilda in the outer, outer Hebrides (UK's most westerly).
