Britain's Fourth Most Remote Event Cache (Jersey) Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: I think that's everyone who attended logged; well done folks! What can be said apart from it's the people who make these events, and this had the biggest turn-out of any of my various 'extreme' meets and on that basis, it was the best! The location was stunning and amazing, the weather was perfect and bar an ice-cream seller on the fort, I can't think how it could have been better. Thanks very much for joining me on another leg of my 'Going to Extremes' adventure (I'm working on the book) and perhaps I'll see some of you up in Scotland next year, for a remote (but not extreme, I suspect) adventure? Hello to all the watchers too; you have excellent taste in events to follow [:)]

Time to usher this one off; thanks again everyone. You helped make it a very special day for me, as well as a very special time on the islands.

Geocache Description:

Following on from St Kilda in 2007, St Agnes in 2008 and Unst in the Shetlands last year, it's right to go as far south as possible in Britain for a (semi)extreme cache event; a tidal island off the coast of Jersey in the Channel Islands...

Sunday, 13th of June 2010 at 2.10pm (low tide!)

Please be at the Seymour Slip (N 49° 10.175 W 002° 01.792) at 12.30pm. I'll be wearing my yellow eTrex and looking at you hopefully. We'll follow the tide out as it recedes and spend approx 30 mins at the tower. Please be sure to dress for the conditions, wear substantial footwear and remember you accept all personal risks in visiting this cache location! You can find a good map of the island here.

A map of the general area.

A tidal island off the south-east corner of Jersey is the target for this year's most extreme geocache event... Sort of. There's also my In The Unlikely Event... (Les Minquiers) -GC22370- meet but this is a break from tradition as it's on an unpopulated island.

In the past I've organised 'Extreme Cache Events' to St Kilda off the Outer Hebrides (UK's most westerly point, bar the disputed Rockall) in 07, St Agnes in the Isles of Scilly (UK's most southerly island) in 08 and Unst in the Shetlands (UK's most northerly- bar Muckle Flugga and Out Stack) in 09.

This time it's Jersey, as Britian's most southerly populated point which gets the Simply Paul Remote Cache Event treatment. Lowerstoft will just have to wait its turn, again!

There's a thread about these events on the UK forum

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[If you can't find another island, you may still be playing the wrong game. Be careful about arriving on time, as the tide may otherwise get you!]
