Britain's Fifth Most Remote Event Cache (Eigg) Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: As everyone who made this event has logged it, and the TBs and coins have all been cleared out, it's time to send it off on its Viking longship. Thanks to the friends - old and new - who joined me for my adventure on Eigg. It was truly... Eiggpic. I had a cracking time. Etc. [:D]

P.S. I will add some photos to my attended log when I get a proper chance.

Geocache Description:

Eigg with An Sgurr - our target - beyond the lighthouse

Following on from St Kilda in 2007, St Agnes Isles of Scilly in 2008, Unst in the Shetlands in 2009 and a tidal island off the coast of Jersey in the Channel Islands last year, it's the right time to return this series of events to their origin; an off-the-beaten-track location that offers visitors a very special experience...

Monday, 20th of June 2011 from 12pm

I should be arriving on the 4.20pm boat from Rum. So meet me on the quay around then or if you're on the earlier boat (leaves Mallaig on the mainland at 10.15, arrives Eigg at 11.30am) because you're not staying on the island overnight, head up ahead of me- but please include photos with your log as proof of your attendance as a 'day visitor' to the island and the event.

If like me you're planning to stay overnight on the island, you can miss the 16:35 boat back to Mallaig and catch the 13:00 sailing to the mainland (via Muck @ 13:35) which lands at Mallaig at 15:30 on Tuesday.

I'll be wearing my yellow eTrex so you should be able to spot me. I intend to follow this 9km route up onto the top of the bow-like An Sgurr rock for an event in perhaps the most dramatic location. I hope to be there at about 7pm. Some have called the experience of climbing An Sgurr life-changing. The event at the trigpoint (which is also a Ye Ole Survey Monument location - YSM122) will feature caching chit-chat and TB, geocoin and other travel-item swapping. Please be sure to dress for the conditions, pack for a change of conditions, wear substantial footwear and remember you accept all personal risks in visiting this cache event location!

There's a thread about these events on the UK forum

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[If you can't find another island, you may still be playing the wrong game. The event is by the trigpoint at its highest point]
