Geocache Description:

A 35mm film can on a footpath near Old Warden airfield

This cache, the 6th in a series of caches celebrating the aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, is on a footpath near the airfield, on the Old Warden Circular Walk.

The series has a bonus cache: each cache contains a letter/number combination that you'll need to find the bonus.

Some waypoints for parking, and a suggested route around the series, are given on the page for the bonus cache (GC1Q0ME)

The Martlet was built by the Southern Aircraft Factory at Shoreham, Sussex.
Only six Martlets were ever built, and the Shuttleworth Collection's example was built in 1930 and was the only one to survive the war. It was bought in 1946 by Butlins, and used to give air displays to holidaymakers.
The Collection acquired the Martlet in non-airworthy condition in 1960, and began restoration in 1988. It made its first flight for 50 years in 2000.

You can see the Martlet at the collection all year round, and flying at Shuttleworth air displays, which are held approximately fortnightly May to October. (visit link)

Amenities: The Shuttleworth Collection has a cafe, gift shop and toilets, there's a pub that serves food in Old Warden village, and a farm shop in Upper Caldecote.
