Geocache Description:

A 470ml lock & lock box on a footpath a few minutes walk from Old Warden church.

This cache, the third in a series of caches celebrating the aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, is on a footpath near Old Warden church, near the Old Warden Circular Walk
(visit link)

The series has a bonus cache: each cache contains a letter/number combination that you'll need to find the bonus.

Some waypoints for parking, and a suggested route around the series, are given on the page for the bonus cache (GC1Q0ME)

The first version of the cache was muggled; v2.0 is about 500m away, in a less muggly and less nettly location.

The Shuttleworth Collection's Sea Hurricane is the only flying example in the World. It's a "1b": the 1a (adapted from the Hurricane to protect Atlantic convoys from U-boats) had attachments near the radiator for the launching catapult; the 1b also had a tail hook allowing it to land on the boat again!
Prior to the tail hook, pilots had to ditch near the convoy and hope to be picked up before hypothermia set in.

The Sea Hurricane is powered by the greatest engine of all time - the Rolls Royce Merlin - and the Merlin in this aeroplane is (at the time of writing) the oldest airworthy Merlin in the World.

You can see the Sea Hurricane at the collection all year round, and flying at Shuttleworth air displays, held approximately fortnightly May to October.
We recommend standing behind the fence, just a few feet from the tail, when the Sea Hurricane's doing the engine run prior to the display. You'll thank us when you've heard the Merlin roar, and felt the 100mph wind from the propellor!

Amenities: The Shuttleworth Collection has a cafe, gift shop and toilets, there's a pub that serves food in Old Warden village, and a farm shop in Upper Caldecote.
