Geocache Description:

The perfect bathing spot

Dalmacija: A geocache series

Dalmatia has existed for some 2000 years and was a part of then Illyria and has survived over the last 2000 years among many different empires and rulers.
In addition to the famous dog breed "Dalmatians" who come from this area, Dalmatia is best known for its rugged and karstified coastal landscape. Around 1000 islands, several national parks and around 1200 kilometers of coastline describe Dalmatia, which stretches from Velebit with its famous tunnel "Sveti Rok" to Dubrovnik. If the "Bura" blows from the north, this strongest wind in the world with up to 250km / h can even force authorities to close the entire highway.
Although Dalmatia has a very long cultural tradition and was already known in antiquity for its wild warriors, but was over all centuries - almost to this day - mainly due to the barren and stony soil always a relatively poor area and a classic emigration country. Formerly used as auxiliary troops by Greeks, Romans, Venetians and Austrians, later the inhabitants became emigrants to America, Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand, and then later to Germany, Austria and Switzerland after World War II.
One of the best part of Dalmatia is the culinary art: puff-thin Dalmatian prosciutto, yellow sheep's cheese and salted anchovies, a few black olives, home-baked white bread, salad of sun-ripened tomatoes and even wine that has been pressed, diluted with water. Beef, pork and lamb steaks are traditionally cooked in Dalmatia on the grid above the open charcoal fire. In the conobas of Central and Southern Dalmatia you can find a specialty: Fish and meat, preferably lamb, are cooked together with potatoes and vegetables under a charcoal heat overflowed metal bell, the peka.

We placed five geocache series in Dalmatia:

Dalmacija - The Ring

Dalmacija – Adria

Dalmacija - Krajina

Dalmacija – Krka

Dalmacija - Outback

These series are intended to give a deep insight into the Dalmatian soul, in the historical and modern Dalmatian heart, to introduce you to the country, its people, customs and lifestyle, as well as to the marks of the last war on Dalmatian soil. The series were launched in 2014 and will be expanded every year when we are here on vacation.

This Cache: A Top Secret bathing spot

[EN]
Here at the "Skradinska most" of the D59 over the river Krka you can always find a nice place to swim. Our family vacations in Yugoslavia and later in Croatia have led us here for more than 40 years annually for swimming, because only a few tourists and locals are bathing here. It is quite a secret. This year we came here with the 3rd generation and bathed in fresh water. Anyone brave enough can even jump from the blue iron structure of the bridge – the height depending on how brave you are.
