When the Charlatans first album Some Friendly came out I immediately liked it simply because it was a lot like the Stone Roses. Unlike the Stone Roses, however, the Charlatans have stayed together and are still putting out excellent music. Their music has evolved so much over time and every album is very unique. It was hard to choose but Tellin’ Stories is my favorite. It brings back a lot of great memories and the songs just don’t get old at all. Just like the other albums in the cache series, the songs in this album just go together so well, complementing one another. I’ve been to a couple of Charlatans’ shows and they never disappoint.
The cache is right off one of my favorite trails. You can walk up an access road going straight up to the area but if you don’t go by Twin Lakes or Lake Mary you’re doing yourself a big injustice and it really won’t be that much easier, or shorter. There are so many great caches at Brighton. It’s like a second home for me. I placed the cache at about 7:30am and the whole way up in my head kept singing “Come see me in the morning can’t you see I’m tellin’ stories…”
There will be a final cache of this series one day so for now write down the song from this album that I’ve written on the logbook and in the lid of the ammo can. It will be required later on. And bring your pen because I think I forgot to put one in the cache again.
**Update 8/3/09 - cache went missing. Since it is part of the series it really needs to be replaced so it is now a lowly decon - the only one of the group. But hey, the Charlatans have changed their sound so much it kind of fits. **
