I'm always a little irked that there is so much more great music recorded by Simon & Garfunkel than on the “Greatest Hits” and “Definitive Greatest Hits” type albums. I prefer the regular albums because the songs give you a very well rounded feel, instead of a handful of hits that don’t stick together. There’s a fine art to album creating which is lost in most greatest hits albums. And now that so much of our music is bought in parts and pieces, the art is becoming even more rare. This album has gotten the most playtime of the S&G cds that I own. Even on the Ipod I prefer to listen to an album like this all together.
The cache is in a spot I've looked at for the past year. So I finally made it up there. I started near GC1J7TK because it minimized the elevation. From the looks of construction, it won't last as a good trailhead. When you get going, take a look at your future, I mean plan your route, because there is no trail up from the road and you don't want to get stuck wading through the big groves of scrub oak. You get to be creative. [Edit 2014: Don't be creative! There is now a trail going all the way up and it's pretty nice. Also most of the scruboak burned along with the first container of this cache a few years back.] Once you're up there (a 3/4 mile jaunt one-way) the views are astounding in all directions. I picked the spot for the cache and was surprised to find a cache of sorts already in there! I found a corked wine bottle with a slip of paper inside. Not having my corkscrew handy I put the bottle back in its hidey hole. I didn't see any writing on the paper. Pretty neat. Remember to write down the clue of one song from this album that I've written on the log and inside the lid. You'll need it to find the finale of this series. Have a great time!
