Geocache Description:


Every year a conference is held for kids to teach other kids about the environment.

 The 2015 conference theme is catchments. 

The Sunshine Coast Home Educators have laid a ‘catchment cache trail’ to teach other kids about the catchment that starts at Cooloolabin Dam and goes all the way to the Maroochy River mouth and out to the ocean. This trail includes man made, natural, fresh water and salt water catchments.  To fully appreciate this catchment we recommend you spend the day starting at Catchment Trail 1 and following it all the way to the ocean at Catchment Trail 7. You need coordinate information from Catchment Trails 1-6 to find 7.  It’s important to keep our waterways clean so be sure to take your rubbish away and pick up any that has been left behind.  

You are looking for a 500ml sistema container. The cache is hidden in the Cooloolabin dam day use area. The gates will be open from 6am-6pm daily. There is parking, toilets, picnic tables and a small playground. The dam is beautiful in the morning or late afternoon. We recommend starting the the KIA trail up here and working your way down to the sea. Look out for the wild roosters in the trees. The cache has enough room for small swaps and trackables. There is no pen in the cache so you'll have to BYOP. Enjoy the hunt but remember to replace the cache exactly how you found it. There is a FTF coin for the lucky one who gets there first.  Don't forget to get the clue for #7!
