Geocache Description:

Every year a conference is held for kids to teach other kids about the environment.

The 2015 conference theme is catchments.

The Sunshine Coast Home Educators have laid a ‘catchment cache trail’ to teach other kids about the catchment that starts at Cooloolabin Dam and goes all the way to the Maroochy River mouth and out to the ocean. This trail includes man made, natural, fresh water and saltwater catchments.
To fully appreciate this catchment we recommend you spend the day starting at Catchment Trail 1 and following it all the way to the ocean at Catchment Trail 7. You need coordinate information from Catchment Trails 1-6 to find 7.
It’s important to keep our waterways clean so be sure to take your rubbish away and pick up any that has been left behind.

This is the second cache in the series. It is located near Wappa Dam. Wappa Dam was constructed in 1963 on the South Maroochy River and supplies drinking water to the Sunshine Coast. It holds 4694 megalitres of water at full supply. Check out the spillway when it is overflowing. It looks amazing.

Wappa Dam is a peaceful place with a playground, a BBQ, picnic tables and toilets. You are seeking an ammo tin with a FTF coin and swaps.Watch out for the guardian! The cache find can be a quick park and grab or you could have morning tea and enjoy the area before moving on to KIA Catchment Trail 3- Lions Park.

Snakes have been seen in the area even in cooler weather so be vigilant.
