The eastern part of the Cruagh Woods loop takes you close to the Owendoher River. It is also known as An Dothra Bheag, the Little Dodder, and is one of the main right tributaries of the River Dodder.
What is just a small stream at this stage, flows into the River Dodder just inside Bushy Park in Rathfarnham (cf. GC45JWB, Confluence - Dodder Ramble) The cache is placed close to the river and will require a short descent down a steep and uneven slope - please take your time and watch your step. It is approximately 40m from the main path.
The Cruagh Geocaching trail
I have placed seven geocaches along this route: 4 Traditional hides, 2 Unknown caches (one to be solved at home, the other to be solved at the location), and an enigmatic and difficult Multi Stage cache. Although the walk can be completed in either direction, I would suggest an anticlockwise approach for geocachers planning to search for all seven hides. Turning right at the fork will, initially, appear to be taking you further away from the caches, (if you watch your GPSr), but the path doubles back before long and your GPS will be happy again.
