LB12-1983 Easy Cache/Difficult Year Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Archived and gathered up. 121 finds (and no DNFs; well done! That SBA still looks like an accident to me) on this cache, but the series is past its sell-by date, always needed a lot of attention due to cheap cache containers - take note, series setters! - and had some other issues (reopening of train line and HS2 fears amongst them) so it's time to drop most of them. TCLN. Cheers for all your logs. Thanks too to HHHP20 for his company, collecting these up. No, he didn't sign the log, but I know he was here as the cache was found. For the last time! [:)]

Geocache Description:

The Life Begins cache series is an autobiographical trail set to celebrate my turning 40 in November 2011. I've always said I prefer getting to my 40s to the alternative. Don't forget to answer the question in red on the log and make a note of the number! You should get four chances to get each figure in order to find LB40-Bonus!

This cache is unlikely to cause you much trouble.

Biography: I'll remember 1983 as the year my parents spilt and I moved to Waddesdon with my mum and brother. New friends had be found to replace the old ones and it was a tough time for an 11 year-old. Before it happened the garden shed was full of bicycles - my brother bought and sold them, fixing up damaged ones and making a tidy profit along the way. I built a raft which my friendy Ricky then claimed as his own (I was never quite sure how that worked) and, as most years, I went to Knebworth House to help at my dad's Summernational collectors' fair.

Wider world: 1983 was the year of Shergar being kidnapped (horsenapped?) and Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi winning eight Oscars; the most ever won by a British film. Shoulder pads, snoods and sweatbands were in. Woody Allen's groundbreaking Zelig and Educating Rita were out, at the cinema. Michael Jackson's Thriller was the biggest thing since sliced leather jackets and Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran went to pop war. The first (iffy) series of The Black Adder aired on TV and both Blockbusters and Breakfast TV started. Every bathtime seemed to call for Matey and My Little Pony was the must-have gift for girls. Prof. Heinz Wolff was a great reason to watch the Great Egg Race while I sung along to the Rentaghost theme. The Blue Peter Garden was vandalised and Sally Ride was the first US woman in space - these two facts are not connected. Number 1 on my birthday: Up Town Girl by Billy Joel.

Where next: Continue to follow the track to your next target, LB13.
