King Moonracer is the ruler of the Island of Misfit Toys. He is responsible for flying around the world each night in search of unwanted toys. He appears in the special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
King Moonracer lives in a large castle atop a hill, and acts as a sovereign to the island, deciding who can or cannot stay on the Island. He allows Rudolph, Hermey, and Yukon Cornelius to stay on the island, but insists they tell Santa about it so that the toys that inhabit it can find happy homes. He is a mixture of a lion and a bird, similar to the mythical creature, the Griffin.
The winter series theme this year involves characters from the classic Rankin/Bass Stop-Motion animation TV Specials that first aired in the 60's, 70's, and early 80's.
