On May 2, 1940, voters in Franklin County created the Port of Pasco in order to provide facilities for grain barges on the Columbia River. The issue passed by a vote of 875 to 524. The Port of Pasco soon developed docking facilities and a grain elevator, later known as the Marine Terminal, on the Columbia River. In 1963, the Port purchased the Pasco Airport, which then expanded into the Tri-Cities Airport. Those grain barges loaded here by the water.
This is also part of the Cache Hiding series. It represents the sharing we do in the geocache world. Cache Hiding 3 was blocked off by the city of Pasco but they allowed Tumbleweedpirates to help hide for the 2013 Geocoin event. Since the actual Pirate of Tumbleweedpirates is a Pirate he was able to convince Pasco Park and Rec he needed to be co-owner of this cache!
