Criminal Finds III (Part 3 of 3)

Part I | Part II

The year is 2011. It is a dark time for cachers across the area. A serial killer has been running rampant in the Greater Charlotte area. He has been targeting creative geocache hiders. Thanks to diligent work of several cachers, the killer has been apprehended but not before placing 10 pipe bomb caches in place of true creative caches around town! Many of your fellow geocachers have helped locate 9 of the false decoy caches but according to the following cryptic note found in the killer’s pocket upon arrest there is still one more pipe bomb cache out there!! Clues are sparse, but that’s why we’re relying on you. Using your sleuth skills, geocaching instincts and police resources, determine the location of the final pipe bomb and diffuse it before any further cachers are harmed!

The Police have asked for your help as creative cachers are so clever in their hides even the Police don’t know where to look. Patrol cars are scouring all divisions looking for things out of place but cachers know caching best! The following cache locations still need to be checked:

A. GC1NZ96 - The Lost Lob
G. GC176R0 - Veterans Cache
B. GC1W9XP - The Red Headed League
H. GC24Y2G - Paralyzer
C. GC2G8WA - Paint Your Wagon
I. GC2KV7J - Baby New Year Ran Away!
D. GC2G2JP - Mmmm... Beer: Unknown
J. GC2QNAQ - Cache Trap
E. GC2Q923 - Good Luck
K. GC1P335 - Crimson Tide Hide - 1930
F. GC1H3B3 - My Favorite Wings! II
L. GCD506 - Birthplace of NASCAR

The Police have offered the following Division maps to assist with the search:

1. Hickory Grove Division
7. University City Division
2. Independence Division
8. Eastway Division
3. South Division
9. Providence Division
4. Central Division
10. Steele Creek Division
5. North Tryon Division
11. Freedom Division
6. North Division
12. Westover Division

Once you have located the bomb, take safe measures in diffusing it. The Police Dept has offered the quick crash course in bomb squad training to help:

Know Your Target

Knowing what you are looking for can be the difference of life or death (also known as a find or a DNF).

Everyone is Watching

Be aware that all eyes are upon you. Your actions will be watched closely.

Think Outside the Box

You may have to look places that seem too common or misleading.

STAY ALERT

Keep on your toes. You may not expect what is coming.

Be Versatile

You never know what types of terrain you may have to cross.

Keep the Uninformed Away

They will simply cause problems if not a big mess.

Knowledge is Power

If you don't know what is going on, you probably shouldn't be here.
