This cache has an entertaining history. On Tuesday July 14th, I rode 25 miles on my bicycle and found this oilfield relic. On the 15th I rode out and took a picture and took a quick set of coordinates with the intention of coming back later, but went ahead and created a new inactive cache listing.

On Saturday July 18, badfeet and RonFisk came caching through the area on a super hot day. On the morning of Sunday July 19th, I received a notification that somene was wanting to plant a new cache within 528 feet of my unpublished Oilfield Relic #11. I knew someone else was trying to steal my idea, and possibly even had planted the cache already.

I went out to the cache site at 10:15 PM on Sunday the 19th and indeed found a cache container with a beta find entry by RonFisk! It must be badfeet's hide! So I kept his container and made it a joint planting. Geocaching is too much fun and there are many more Oilfield Relics out there!

This series is dedicated to the monuments of oilfield past that are scattered across Kern County. These old relics were obviously no longer useful for anything except to adorn the front entrances of modern oil facilities or private residences. However, I am giving them new life by being a place to hide new Geocaches on or nearby.
