His story: I (Gally) have been fascinated by parrots since I learned about Alex the African Grey in my college psychology class.  After seeing videos online of these exceptionally intelligent birds over the years, I decided I wanted a parrot, but did a lot of research since there are over 400 species of parrots and most are wild until tamed.  It was a big decision, but I decided on a cockatiel because they have similar intelligence and affection as larger parrots, but are generally calmer, quieter, and less demanding.  When the time came to choose our cockatiel, one particular male caught my attention while singing to his fellow females!  He looked so cheerful, I knew I wanted this happy boy in my life!  He now spends much of his time on everyone's shoulders cuddling and beak grinding (happy noise)!  He's constantly picking out new words, songs, and noises to learn.  He also knows how to fly to us and likes to go outside with us in his bubble backpack or on his harness!
