Marchington, Life in the Country

DO NOT PARK HERE!
The village can't handle more than about 6½ cars at any one time. Instead, please walk here along any of the several Mega walking routes, or catch the local bus. If you can walk, please DO NOT DRIVE!
Thursday is options day! You can experience Life in the City by heading off to Brum for a day of sightseeing and caching in Europe's largest local authority area or you can stroll through the countryside for a day of calm, quiet, peace, and caching in the small village of Marchington. Your choice!
Food Options:
Our geocaching-friendly host Richard has arranged a special Geocachers lunch menu for us - hot or cold cobs (baps, rolls, or whatever you call them), vegan, pork, or cheese, perfect for a refuel on a good walking day. He'll also be running his usual classy menu (the menu varies, please see the menu on the day) and wide range of local beers.

Walking options:
Several walking options are available - both short loops and long-distance trails as well as many caches within the village itself. Look at the bookmarks list for trail options.
By Train:
Catch the 0751 or 0957 from Uttoxeter to Hatton (£4.30) and walk the long route from Tutbury to this event via about 50 geocaches and some excellent views and historic sites.
By Bus:
The 402 has a good service from Uttoxeter station. Catch the 1010 or 1210 from Uttoxeter train station and walk down the short footpath to the event. The last bus back is at 6:40pm
By Car:
Please don't. This event is all about enjoying the countryside. If you simply have to (eg dificulty walking), please car share and the church warden is kindly allowing "the walkers" (us) to use the Church car park (see waypoint) on Aug 4 only. Please close the gate while using it to discourage misuse. Parking in the rest of the village is extremely dificult.
