Birmingham, Life in the City

A visit to the West Midlands region, would not be complete without a visit to the city at the Heart Of England, Birmingham!

Thursday is options day!  You can experience Life in the Country by heading off to Marchington for a day of walking and caching in the countryside, or you can come in to Birmingham, Europe's largest local authority area for a day of sightseeing and caching. Your choice!

While In Birmingham, you will be free to explore, find any of the many caches within the city centre, visit the shops, or just do whatever you like. An event log book will be available from midday until 2pm in St Philips Square (known by nearly all Brummies, as Pigeon Park due to the vast number of the birds which frequent the area).

"But how are we to get there?" We hear you ask. With the Commonwealth Games happening north of the city centre, and a pesky Low Emissions Zone covering everything within the 'Middleways' A4540 ring road, we are suggesting Park & Ride services operating into Snow Hill station or Bull Street Tram stop, information of where you can Park & Ride, can be found here for the tram, or here for rail.

However, do not feel that you have to use the P&R service, if you want to make your own way in to Birmingham, check to see if your vehicle is able to by visiting the Clean Air Zone checker, where you can also find out the fees and pay for them if your vehicle is not exempt. Motorcycles are exempt from c.a.z. charges.

No direct train services operate from Uttoxeter, however, if you wish to travel into Birmingham by train from a station nearer to Uttoxeter, there are trains into Birmingham New Street from Rugeley Trent Valley.
