Talossa

The Kingdom of Talossa is an independent, sovereign nation in North America, which seceded peacefully from the United States in 1979 (although it is unclear that the U.S. noticed). The Kingdom is located on the western shore of La Mar Talossan (the Talossan Sea, i.e. Lake Michigan). In addition to La Mar Talossan on the east, Talossa is bordered to the north by the United States (Edgewood Ave.), and to the west and south by the river Manáweg (the Milwaukee River).

The Kingdom of Talossa is one of the earliest micronations, although it now rejects that label. It was founded in December, 1979 by then-14-year-old Robert Ben Madison of Milwaukee shortly after the death of his mother. At first, the Kingdom was confined to his bedroom; he adopted the name after discovering that Talossa means “inside the house” in Finnish.

The territory of the “Greater Talossan Area” subsequently expanded and now consists of seven Provinces occupying much of the eastern portion of Milwaukee. The unoccupied island of Cézembre, off the coast of Brittany, is Talossa’s eighth Province. Talossa also claims the Pengöpäts (Talossan for Penguinland) Territory of Antarctica.

Talossa is a constitutional monarchy, headed by an apolitical King and governed by a democratically elected Government.

Maricopa Province

The Province of Maricopa was created from the South-West Territories (Las Teritôriâs del Sudur-Ovest) on 21 September, 1996/XVII. The South-West Territories area had been annexed to Talossa on 26 January 1983/IV.

Maricopa Province is bordered to the west and north by the Milwaukee River, to the south by Fiôvâ Province (Juneau Avenue), to the east by Mariitime-Maxhestic Province and Florenciă Province ((from south to north) North Prospect Avenue, the southbound lane of Wisconsin State Highway 32, Warren Avenue, and the tunnel crossing the river into the U.S.).

At one time, Maricopa extended south to Mason St. However, it gave up that territory south of Juneau Ave. to form Fiôvâ Province along with land from Mariitime-Maxhestic Province at the time of Reunision in 2012, ending the eight-year schism between the Kingdom and the breakaway Republic of Talossa.

Wherigo Cartridge

I assume that you know how to use a Wherigo cartridge. If not, you can follow the directions on one of my earlier Wherigo cache pages, such as The Zombie, The Zombie, The Werewolf, and The Bunny.

You can download the cartridge for the Maricopa Province Wherigo geocache here.

Completion Code

Upon completion of the Wherigo cartridge, you will be given a Completion or Unlock Code. Some players use this code to log completing the cartridge on Wherigo.com

NOTE: Valid Wherigo unlock codes are 15 characters long. If you receive an unlock code that is 16 characters long, then enter only the first 15 characters when you unlock the cartridge on the Wherigo site.
