How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the given coordinates, although you will begin your journey there.

Special Considerations:

  • This cache is NOT recommended for children or the squeamish.
  • While it probably would add to the challenge and enjoyment of this Wherigo and find to try them after dark, keep in mind that the Park closes at 10:00 p.m.
  • PLEASE rehide the cache as you found it, making sure it is adequately covered.

The Zombie, The Werewolf, and The Bunny

This is a variation on the old puzzle about how the farmer can get his dog, a chicken, and some grain across a river when he can only fit one of them into the boat with him. A Wherigo geocache based more closely on that puzzle is The Dog, The Chicken, and The Grain

In this variation, you are on the bank of a river with a Zombie, a Werewolf, and a Bunny who all need to get across the river safely. If you leave them alone, the Zombie will attack the Werewolf for his brain, and the Werewolf would eat the Bunny. So, what’s a cacher to do?

Assuming that you complete the puzzle correctly, you will be rewarded with the coords for the geocache hidden nearby.

Wherigo Information

For those who haven’t yet experienced Wherigo, the Wherigo website describes it as “a platform that allows you to build location based GPS experiences on your computer and play them in the real world.” Depending on the Wherigo cartridge, you can play interactive games, take self-guided tours, or participate in a number of other experiences. And as here, you can even find geocaches.

A Wherigo geocache involves playing a Wherigo “cartridge” on an appropriate app. To find a Wherigo cache, you first will need a compatible device, either a Garmin Oregon/ Colorado or a GPS-enabled Pocket PC, Smartphone, or Tablet running an appropriate Wherigo app:

Whereyougo App (Android)

Wherigo App (iphone). (Note: Groundspeak, Inc. recently released a new Wherigo cartridge player for IOS which hopefully resolves many of the issues with the older player).

You also will need to download the “cartridge” from the Wherigo website. The cartridge is the software containing the Wherigo adventure. The cartridge for this particular Wherigo geocache is available here

The Zombie, the Werewolf, and the Bunny Wherigo Cartridge

You can download the cartridge for the The Zombie, the Werewolf, and the Bunny Wherigo geocache here.

Completion Code

Upon completion of the Wherigo cartridge, you will be given a Completion or Unlock Code. Some players use this code to log completing the cartridge on Wherigo.com

NOTE: Valid Wherigo unlock codes are 15 characters long. If you receive an unlock code that is 16 characters long, then enter only the first 15 characters when you unlock the cartridge on the Wherigo site.
