A short (one stage) multi cache in the beautiful St Finan's Bay area of South-West Kerry, known locally as "The Glen". Probably best done with a car or bike.
The Glen or St Finan's Bay is a part of the South-West Kerry coastline with spectacular views over the Skellig Islands. It also has a nice little beach that is popular with surfers.
The views are especially nice on the drive to a monument dedicated to the memory of the crew of an American warplane that crashed off Skellig Michael during World War II. The road is very narrow, but there is parking space beside the monument. Please take note of the day the plane crashed:
February AB CDEF
The cache is hidden near the old Glen burial ground at:
N 51 50.(C+E+F) C E
W 10 19.(A+B)(F-C)(A+F)
While in the area, you may also like to explore our other cache: You don't go to Bolus unless on business!. This is a 2½ hour looped walk on spectacular coastline with a view of over 12 islands off the Cork and Kerry coasts including the Skellig Rocks. The parking spot and trailhead for this is right at the monument.
