Great drone shot by Dom Reardon. Insa.
A steep, surfaced path drops from parking (you'll feel the steps coming up!) and then crosses this headland to Neist Point Lighthouse, where this cache is hidden.
Great pic by cattivikkio
This is the sister cache of West is Best (Ardnamurchan Point), which was set 10 years earlier, on June 20th 2007, at what is usually regarded as Great Britain's most westerly point. However! Since Skye may no longer be an island - because of the fixed link of the bridge - some have argued that Neist Point is now Great Britain's most westerly point...
I visited in June 2017 for Wester is Bester - Skye , and found a wonderful spot for a cache while exploring. This also appears to be Skye's only Letterbox/Hybrid cache. Indeed, of the six others within 50 miles, five of them are mine! (At the time of setting.) All are pretty cool :)
Reaching the cache: Follow the very obvious path to the hut at the entrance to the lighthouse enclosure. Pass it and turn left, before taking rough steps on your right, up to the lighthouse. The cache is behind the fog horn, at the given co-ords. There's no need to climb any walls and certainly don't cross any fences. It's not in a dangerous location and there's no need to enter the walled Lighthouse compound. That said, some amazing cliffs are in the area, so please take care here. If there are strong winds, perhaps leave it for another day, as the route to it is exposed in places.
This cache has a PINK THEME. Please consider that if making swaps. Also, there is a stamp in the box, marked DO NOT REMOVE. It makes this cache a Letterbox/Hybrid. Please don't remove it :)
