Geocache Description:

Lesser Known Winter Sport Athletes
Jomber
Downhill Barstool Races

Downhill Barstool Races

The Race course: The downhill slope should be a minimum of 30' and be of sufficient grade to enable for gravity to propel racers past the finish line. The course should be a minimum of 20' wide and allow enough barricade or berm so that racers do not crash into spectators. The race course should be snow covered. There is a caution that the grade be not too steep or long that a fall or crash results in great bodily injury. The Barstool racer: One bar stool mounted on two skis, any type of stool is OK Minimum height of stool with skis attached -- 27 inches. Maximum outside width of skis at their widest point -- 18 inches. No outriggers or ribs are allowed. Ski's can be of any standard downhill or cross country type no more than 4'” wide or no less than 2” wide. A push bar mounted or detached on the back for a pushing start that can not extend more than 4' beyond the back legs of the stool. All race sleds must be inspected prior to the race. Race Rules: Two judges required, one at the foul/start line and one at the finish line. Helmet for the rider is required. Contestants Should be at least 21 years of age and may be required to sign a liability release. Can be run as either a double or single elimination event. Push off from Start Line at clear starters signal With a single pusher. Must ride the stool sitting down, butt on top of the stool, and feet not touching the ground. Push Zone is 20 feet long minimum and 24' maximum. Pusher crossing the fowl line or false start may be disqualified or require restart. Interference with another racer may result in disqualification. Absolutely no contestants in underwear or or naked. No modifying sleds after inspection and racing begins. Repairs can be made but only to the original state. All judges rulings are final. Everyone is required to have fun!
