Sunday, September 14th starting at 12:00PM (Noon) at the Tern Lake pullout at the Sterling and Seward Highway Junction!

End summer in SouthCentral with a fun-filled weekend cleaning and camping trip between Turnagain Pass and Seward! This is the third running of a HOBO CITO series that was devised, developed, and planned in the GeocacheAlaska! forums. Help us wrap up the summer tourist season by squeezing in one more frenzy of cleaning before the rapidly approaching snow season. Let's get rid of some of that junk before it gets covered up for the winter!

This HOBO CITO site is the starting point for today’s “Leap Frog” CITO run. We will meet at these coordinates at 12PM (NOON) to sign in, register for door prizes, and break up into multiple teams of Hobos. We will then then hit the road south toward Seward. The first team to reach a pullout will stop and do a quick cleanup of that area. Other teams continue on with the first of them stopping at the next empty pullout and so on until everyone is cleaning a spot. As a team finishes their spot, they saddle up and head down the road, passing the other teams until they get to the next empty pullout. When we reach a formal camp ground or rec site, all teams will stop and jointly clean up that area before continuing on. This process will repeat along some 38 miles of highway until we reach the town of Seward. We will have all afternoon to leap from one dirty spot to the next. There will be time to jot your initials on a cache log or two along the way.

Once everyone has arrived at a designated final location in Seward, we will consolidate the trash for a photo-op and then draw for door prizes (must be present to win). As with the previous Hobo CITO events, you get to put a new raffle ticket in the box at the beginning of each event. The more events you attend, the better your chances are to win a prize.

Following this event, we can all head to a location in Seward for an informal dinner gathering. Details will be made on the fly based on the number of people we have and how dirty we are after two days of camping and cleaning.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this CITO event, even if you are not going to participate in the camping. Many hands make light work. We look forward to seeing you there!
