This travel bug is in honor of Josh Gibson, known as the greatest power hitter in the Negro Leagues. He was known as the "Black Babe Ruth," and was thought to have hit over 800 home runs in his career, although many of these home runs were most likely hit in unofficial games against local league competition including "barnstorming" competitions. While records vary, his official Negro Leagues stats are 238 home runs with a .359 batting average. He primarily played with the Homestead Grays in Pittsburgh. He was a 12 time All-Star and 2 time Negro Leagues World Series champion. He unfortunately died at the age of 35 of a stroke, 4 years after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Recently there has been talk of renaming the MLB MVP award in honor of his name.
This travel bug would like to travel the world, but would especially like to visit any baseball-related locations. Photos of its travels are appreciated. Happy travels!
