This little Hitchhiker is in memory of our Commanding Officer - Capt. Gary Saxby who served the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program for 42 years. As a cadet pilot he never lost his love of flying and it would be only fitting for this fellow to help Gary stay in skies and visit as many places as possible.
34 Roland J. Groome – Operation Virtual Discovery
Canada Flag Tag representing 34 Roland J Groome Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, YQR - Regina International Airport. This Hitchhiker is one of one hundred that were released in 2021 with the intent of virtually exploring the planet. In helping them on their journeys it is hope that you would someday have the opportunity to visit the fine City of Regina in person. Our home is in Regina, Saskatchewan and we are named after Roland J. Groome, a Canadian aviation pioneer. Roland J. Groome received the very first Canadian Commercial Pilot license in 1920. The Regina International Airport is named Roland J. Groome Field and the Regina Airport Authority is our Squadron’s sponsor. 34aircadets.ca
