About This Item

On top of the world (Well Wales)

This is my G4 Challange Discovery 3, number 23 of 68 Discovery 3s from the 2009 challange which was to be Land Rover's third G4 Challenge. 95 vehicles were built, all painted in Tangiers Orange, except for 2 Discovery 3 ambulances, which were silver.

Due to the cancellation of the 2009 G4 Challenge, only 45 or so vehicles were used in anger. Ten went to Mongolia, where 8 scouted for suitable terrain and locations for the Challenge. These have subsequently become known as the "Recce vehicles". These were 4 x Defender 110’s, 2 x Freelander 2’s, 2 x Discovery 3’s. The remaining 2 vehicles being a Range Rover Sport and a Range Rover.

The other 35 plus vehicles that were used, took part in the UK and Irish Selections Event at Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire and the Belgium National Selections, of which ours was one.

Noticed this awesome vehicle at a local forest school playgroup! My son & I admired the orange beast but it was only on the way home I spotted the distinctive travel bug logo. Hopefully see you there again soon 😊

Spotted this Distinctive landy as we began queuing in Calais. Despite the hour or so wait it was only as we began to load I spotted the tb! Determined to catch it, I was relieved to be at the back of the boat, as this would give more time to go find. Much to the passenger's amusement, a photo was taken, and our landy's bug (which won't stick to the bodywork!) was shared. Many thanks for some added fun on an exceptionally long journey 🙂
