Current Goal

This travel bug has a modest goal, to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers.  As of 9-Jul-19 it had survived for 2.4 years and had been moved by 10 cachers.

Please drop it in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

Travel bug photos are appreciated and will be re-posted here.

About This Item

I have already released series of art-themed travel bugs based on works I have seen in person.  I will continue the series mostly including works I simply admire.  There will also be famous works or works by famous artists that I otherwise do not particularly care for, but they are….well,..famous.  My disdain extends to most Modern Art and a good amount from the Pop Art movement.

Roy Fox Lichtenstein (1923-1997) was an American pop artist.  During the 1960s, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist among others, he became a leading figure in the new art movement.  His work defined the basic premise of pop art through parody.  Favoring the comic strip as his main inspiration, Lichtenstein produced hard-edged, precise compositions that documented while it parodied often in a tongue-in-cheek manner.  His work was heavily influenced by both popular advertising and the comic book style.  He described pop art as not American painting but actually industrial painting

Whaam! and Drowning Girl are generally regarded as Lichtenstein's most famous works, with Oh, Jeff...I Love You, Too...But... arguably third.  Woman with Flowered Hat has held the record for highest Lichtenstein auction price (56 million dollars) since May 15, 2013.  Go figure!!!
