About This Item

PATIENT # 195 - STEFAN

Meet Stefan, patient # 195 in our ongoing study of the spread of the zombie plague via geocaching.  Stefan was a biochemist who worked in a brewery in Ebersheim, Germany.  He specialized in yeast development, rode a Ducati motorcycle, and had very long hair.  He had startling grey eyes, a winning smile, and detested facial hair of any kind, in fact he routinely sheved his eyebrows off, and planed top have them permanently removed by laser.  He preferred traditional caches, and liked long walks in the woods, as it provided a nice bnreak from his work in the lab.

Stefan most likely contracted the zombie plague from patient # 17, Birgit.  We have evidence of correspondence between the two regarding yeast strains and yeast breeding techniques, as Birgit hoped to leverage Stefan’s knowledge to make her a better pastry chef and baker.  There was some discussion in their emails regarding a puzzle cache based on yeast gene sequencing patterns but as neither was really into puzzles, this does not seem to have come to much.  We do know that they did some caching together in the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue nature preserve and spent the weekend tohkether in Stockstadt am Rhein, and we beleive this must be when Stefan contracted the plague.

This travel bug is part of a larger study to take a closer look at how the zombie plague might propagate if the primary vector for spreading the disease was geocaching.  Please visit the following website for further details, and a visualization of how the disease has propagated thus far based on the movement and discovery of this and other infected Zombie travel bugs:
