The flag of Kuwait was adopted in 1961. It has the Pan-Arab colors, but they are arranged as a horizontally divided green-white-red stripes with a black trapezoid placed along the hoist. The meaning of each color is as follows: black represents the defeat of the enemy, while red is the color of blood on the Kuwaiti swords, white symbolizes purity, and green is for the fertile land.
