Current Goal

Would love to see this guy returned to New York!

Visit the facebook page! FlagstoneFugitive and check out this cameo in Groundspeak's 20 unforgettable geocache destinations in 40 seconds. And read the news when the university finally discovered one of their bricks was missing on their webpage: Retired Purchase Brick on World Tour

A HUGE thank you to Pitt Monqui who carried this beast all the way to the UK on an amazing adventure. The pictures are awesome, so awesome that the brick has it's own place on Facebook. And also to Rankku for moving the brick to Australia! Please keep posting shots! And remember, the beast does not actually have to go in a cache, it can sit outside the box if it won't get muggled or lost.

Thank you to all you AWESOME folks who spotted me at GW! And a bigger thanks to the folks who thought to bring me there and move me on my way afterwords!!!!! Inspired by a song called “I can’t break away” by Big Pig, “…All my life I’ve wanted to fly but I don’t have the wings…” I’ve decided to take off before they get rid of me… I’m gonna travel the world and see my ancestors. I want to see castles, Cathedrals…. Oh! The Great Wall of China even! What a dream… If you can find it in your heart to hide me near some caches where I may be found and moved again…that would be great. If you take some pictures of me with some famous ancestors that would be even better! A lot to ask, yes… but won’t we have fun! Feel free to sign me and add stickers or whatever!

About This Item

Hanging with rock stars...

I was placed with many friends circa 1971 at Purchase College, State University of New York. The Master Architect, Edward Larrabee Barnes, had plans which called for “a city within the country” where almost all the buildings were built within a great open space. Times have changed. My friends and I are being retired one by one as we are no longer needed and a new design is in construction as you read this…

Good bye buddy! Fly and be free!

I’m so sad to let him go but it was time and I found the perfect spot. I think he’ll be here for a while and I hope whoever takes him will understand how special he is.

I’ll miss you!

Yes, please let it continue its travels.

There are not many geocaches which can hold a TB this size, but it can often wait nearby. Anyway, there are some TBs which are just there to be discovered, such as cars or pets. This one would be quite a talking point at any geocaching event.

We had great fun helping this TB meet its 2016 goal of returning to the USA. It was photographed with some historic bricks (Windsor castle and Hampton Court palace). We have a X-ray of it at airport security. (It looked like a block of Semtex!)

It would be really nice if it could get to the last two continents. Antarctica will be hard - flights are very weight limited because they can not refuel there and have to make the return trip on one tank of fuel. Ships are not very frequent but there must be geocachers going. South America is easier - we would even consider a trip just to get it logged there.

So yes, for sure, please release it back into the wild. People wil get a lot of fun with it.

17 folks are watching this beast. It’s just about the only bug I’ve released and not gone missing but not only that, it came back! It’s been to all but two continents and now sits on the window of my office and I’m afraid to let it go… But I think it’s time.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I asked the same question in 2018 I see... I think that answers the question. I'm gonna drop it off somewhere in the next couple of weeks and I have a good idea where. Stand by.

Not sure what to do with this guy. He’s been back home after a ‘round the world vacation and simply holds the office door open...so sad.

After enough miles to circle the earth 2.8 times... this brick, one of the only travel bugs of ours that hasn't gone missing, has been on every continent but South America and Antarctica... is home

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Travelling-MnM for making this reunion possible.

After a bit of a visit and a few pictures I think we'll try to shoot for the last two continents.

Cheers!
