Respect the motorcyclist: Remember the motorcycle is a vehicle with all of the privileges of any vehicle on the roadway. Give the motorcyclist a full lane of travel.

Look out: Look for the motorcyclist at intersections, when a motorcyclist may be making a left turn, and on the highway, when a motorcyclist may be changing lanes. Clearly signal your intentions.

Anticipate a motorcyclist's maneuver: Obstructions that you do not notice may be deadly for a motorcyclist. Predict evasive actions.

Allow plenty of space: Don't follow a motorcycle too closely. Allow enough room for the motorcyclist to take evasive actions.

Todie's Wild Ride coins are being released all over the country and the world to promote Biker Awareness. They are released in loving memory of Todie Phillips of Manitou Beach, Michigan--Tod of Team Rod and Tod w/KAboom...the Cachestalkers. Tod died in a tragic motorcycle accident on August 12, 2008 when a truck turned in front of him and he tried to avoid it. Even though Tod was wearing a novelty helmet that wasn't DOT approved when he died, this accident was preventable if the truck driver had been paying attention.

Picked up in Ngaio, Wellington, New Zealand. Departing today for a trip to the US so will take along and drop off somewhere in the North East or Canada.

Great theme for a TB - owned a motorbike some 30 years ago and licence lapsed. Have started riding again for about the last year. Some scary moments - there are some crazy drivers out there.
