I want to get to Promontory Summit GOLDEN SPIKE to see where Leland Stanford pounded my uncle into the polished laurel tie. Then perhaps a trip to the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University to visit with my uncle (the Golden Spike) himself. If possible, a visit with another uncle (identical copy of the real Golden Spike) at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, would also be a real treat! Eventually, catching up to my brother LITTLE SPIKE. After what looks like it may be a long, weary trip, I would like to be delivered to Pig Iron Park.
Not a Golden Spike! set out on a loooooong journey, as did his brother, LITTLE SPIKE, to travel about the world in seek of railways, trains and routes. They know their travels will be long and arduous. But they have "iron" wills and are prepared for the task at hand. Not a Golden Spike! is all decked out in his finest silver suit for the trip ahead. His suit may become tattered and worn, but should be worth it in the long run. He is a pleasant little fellow and will provide nice company for any travelling companion. Enjoy his company and please, if you will, fill his photo gallery with lots of pics.

Picked up the Travel Bug "Not a Golden Spike" from Rock Cave In Curly Reeds which had an incredible view among many Caches in the area. I do apologize for not logging until today (08-31-09) as my computer took a rather large dump and now have new equipment. Did not mean to keep you waiting to see if the little critter was moving in the right direction which as of early this morning will have made friends in the new Cache and temporary home until it's next traveling vacation.

"Not a Golden Spike" will be traveling with me for a few days. Watch for the spike to be driven in a tie that may surprise Gitchee-Gummee.
