This is the First Latvian geocoin, designed in a year 2008.
On the front of the coin you can see Latvian boy Spriditis from a very famous fairy tale. Fairy tale tells about Spriditis who left his home to seek his fortune in the world. On his way he had lot of adventures, just like geocachers have; therefore we can also call him the first Latvian geocacher. He has his shovel in his hand and it is very important attribute because with this shovel he tried to dig money in the swamp. Actually these were only wildfires or maybe he got wrong coordinates? At the end of the fairy tale Spriditis returns home and understands that the true luck can be found only there.
Behind Spriditis you can see the contour of Latvia and it is filled with colours of Latvian flag- carmine red- white- carmine red.
On the back side of the coin you can see some Latvian traditional ornaments used in decorating belts, dresses, tools but can be also found engraved on stones. These ornaments are more than thousand years old.
