This coin is being released as part of the Todie's Wild Ride Bike Awareness Project initiated by Rockin Roddy in response to the death of his good friend Tod Phillips. On August 12, 2008, Tod was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was one third of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory and in memory of all motorcyclists killed on the road. As part of this coins journey, I would like to collect different tips for drivers to be more aware of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. Feel free to add any tips you wish to the logs to share with others. (Used with permission from LionsLair)

DO NOT KEEP THIS COIN! This coin is part of a huge mission to raise awareness of bikes (both motorized and human powered) on the roadways.
This coins purpose is to remind everyone that scooters are bikes too. Some folks don't seem to realize that quite a few scooters are actually classed as motorcycles and therefore deserve the same respect as motorcycles while traveling on the road. The big difference between scooters and motorcycles are just that most scooters are quite a bit smaller and not as powerful as most motorcycles. Just becuase they are smaller does not mean that scooters are any safer than motorcycles. As a matter of fact, they can actually be more dangerous to the rider than a motorcycle just because of their size. On the flip side, scooter riders need to be more safety concious than their big motorcycle riding cousins. Since a scooter is smaller in size it has a lower visibilty than a motorcycle and that means that a scooter rider needs to especially pay more attention to making themselves more visible. A scooter rider should also remember the fact that they are less visible and practice riding with this in mind.
