What a beautiful coin! The one side with the animals rang a bell about an old fable or fairy tale but I couldn't put my finger on it. After researching I discovered that they wete The Bremen Town Musicians from a Grimm's fairy tale.

The back of the coin says Outside and Inside, Search and Find, Withou and Within; I couldn't get a good translation on "wagen un winnen" though.
I learned from the other side that Bremen had been a member of the Hanseatic League which existed from the 13th to the 17th century. It was an economic and defensive alliance of cities.

I am pleasantly surprised to see that this coin has been travelling for over five years and is nearing 5000 miles. I will get it placed in a new hide soon.
