About This Item

My nephew Patrick was commuting to work on his mountain bike in the bike lane. A car was stopped in traffic and wanting to get home quickly, he turned to find a quicker route. Patrick was lucky as he only broke his hip when the car hit him. My friend Tod wasn't quite so lucky. He was riding his motorcycle to work when a truck made a left turn across Tod's lane. In trying to avoid an accident Tod lost control of the bike and died at the scene. (Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom...The Cachestalkers)

Both of these accidents could have been avoided if the drivers weren't distracted and taken the time to check for these types of vehicles.

Be aware and drive and ride safely!!

    I was excited today for this is my first Geocoin find. Then as I read the story behind this coin a chill went through my body. I was reminded of the time my nephew's friend Samanatha was riding her bicycle and tried to cross a busy street. She was struck by a car and killed. I will never forget going to the funeral home with my sister and nephew and seeing that presious 7 year old child laying in a casket.

    My brother rides a motorcycle. He is very careful when he rides but has had a few close calls. I worry about him when he rides, not because he's careless but because drivers don't watch out for cyclist.

    Because of this Geocoin I promise to be careful whenever I see a cyclist on the roadways

    I will pass this coin on in memory of Tod, Samanatha and all other who have lost their lives while riding bikes and in the hope that all drivers be aware of bikers on the roads.
