Current Goal

It would be normal if this Pigeon would fly back to it's loft in a small town called Aalden in the Netherlands. At least it's the idea of pigeon-racing. But it's not necesary.

About This Item

Attached to the bug you will see a set of "pigeon-rings". The red one with the letters NL and a number, which is the unique number. NL states for the Netherlands, year of birth is 2008. the long number is the unique number. Normally when the young pigeons are 6 days old they get the ring around their leg, it stay's there forever. The orange ring: for recognition between pigeons. The yelow one with my telephonenumber (countrycode = ++31). The blue one is the chipring, it contains a computerchip for the computerized clocking system. It contains info about the pigeon. When the bird comes back at the loft it enters the loft over an electronic antenna which regonizes the bird. The antenna is connected to a computer which marks the time when the bird was back at the loft. The release time is known, the time it came back, so the amount of meters/minut can be calculated. A pigeons avarage speed is around 80 km/hr. Pigeons from my loft are flying distances between 120 and 1100 kilometers.
