Tod Phillips was a dearly loved friend and a fellow cacher. As part of the Team Rod and Tod w/Kaleb the Cachestalkers, it was always a thrill when we would have the opportunity to be together. Caching, laughing and hiking were always enjoyable when Tod was along for the ride.
Little did we know at the 2008 Midwest Geobash that Tod was going to lose his life just 2 days later.
Tod died swerving to avoid a truck that turned into his lane directly in front of him.
He is sorely missed and though many have tried, no one can possibly laugh like he did, nor can we begin to fill the void that he left in our hearts.
Please take the time to look for bikers on your daily travels. They are out there doing the same thing that you are... going to work, heading home to family, meeting friends out on the trail and giving their hearts and lives to others.
I will miss Tod for many years to come. He was a good friend who left me some very special memories, that of his smile and his incredible friendship and huge bear hugs.
And of the "really cool biker babe" bandana....
At the bash, Tod told me that he had bought me a gift, but forgot to bring it to the bash....And before I was able to get back with him, he was killed. I wondered about it, but was not able to find out what the item was that he had bought me.
At the funeral Tod's mom told me that she had what he had gotten....a bandana.
Tod knew that I always felt like the nerd among all the "cool" biker folks. No biker experience and clueless and a dweeb.
Tod had bought me a bandana so that I could be a part of the "cool" group.
So it is now with pride that I wear my "really cool biker babe" bandana, complete with it's bright pastel colors and Minnie Mouse Design.
Thank you my friend. I will wear it with honor for years to come.
