Geocache Description:

A nice hike in the woods through the foothills of Long Mountain, the easternmost of the Seven Sisters of the Holyoke Range.

So, what is a geocaching parent to do when his 5 year old son looks at him expectantly and asks, "Daddy! Can we hide a cache tomorrow?!?!?"

Well ... make a side trip on the way to work that day and buy a 30 cal. ammo can, of course, that's what!! This is WMC Big Brother's second hide for our clan (and he wants you to know his 1 year old little sister helped too). Big Brother helped prepare the ammo can and trading items, and also picked the hiding spot himself. He even named the cache himself when, as we were hiking to place the cache, he declared, "You know? This is a nice hike for kids *AND* grownups!!" That's my boy.

As much as I like challenging hikes, puzzle caches, devious micros, and multis ... there's nothing quite like a nice hike in the woods with the kids in which there's an ammo can waiting for us at the end. As any geocaching parent could testify, ammo cans = kids. They don't appreciate micros (no stuff to trade!!), puzzles are beyond them, and multis are sometimes a crap shoot with kids in tow (they are too impatient to find that stage 1 micro in the woods or the final ends up being miles away). This hike should be perfect for the little ones - not too short and not too long - with a traditional ammo can hide at the end. Come and get it! Parking is the same as for our 'WMC's Cachers' Cache' and can be had at the Harris Road parking area at N 42 18.431 W 072 28.254

CONGRATS to chief20r2 for his FTF on this cache! Talk about drop everything and run out the door!! :) ... Since this was a spur-of-the-moment decision for us to hide this one, the FTF prize is pretty basic - an "FTF" modified 2006 WMC jumbo wooden nickel to commemorate your triumph! Luckily, I know the area well and it's a wonderful hike.

This cache also makes a terrific starting point for our more challenging "WMC's Cachers' Cache" {GCYQ0X} ... if you feel up to it.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Remember hunting season is upon us Nov. to Feb. Don't forget to wear your blaze orange. Hunting is allowed in the area Monday to Saturday (no hunting on Sundays).

Your Hosts - WMC Little Sis and Big Brother
