Geocache Description:

Where Is The Inferno?

Bring your camera to this one. This area is great for taking some awesome photography of Lake Erie, Presque Isle, some Lighthouses, and more.

If you were wondering what the "Inferno" was...it is the name of One-Eyed Willie's pirate ship in The Goonies movie which the clan was seeking. You won't find this ship on Lake Erie...but you will find some great high-top views of other ships as they sail along between the shore and the Peninsula.

At certain times of the year...you may see some awesome sunsets from here as well. Speaking of views of the sun...there is a "goof" at the end of The Goonies movie where the Inferno is sailing away into the ocean in the morning sunrise. Unfortunately...the movie is supposed to take place in Astoria, Oregon...which means the sun would not be over the Pacific Ocean until sunset. Oooops.

This area is also full of historical markers. You can read more about the area by going to Sebastian's now archived cache... Fire When Ready...

There is a steep drop off near the cache...please mind the children! There is no need to go down the hill or past the tree. As of 8/4/07...the cache is now snow proof. Please replace it as you found it and try to keep it out of sight. The cache is not located near any markers. Please be respectful of the area and night caching is not recommended.
