A stroll through Mugglewort Wood (yes, this was the inspiration for J.K. Rowling's Muggles) and up to a great vantage point.
This plaque was on a jump at the top of the field when the cache was placed.
I would recommend parking at Velthouse as the impact of the final location can be reduced if you start elsewhere and this way will avoid cows. There's a lovely stroll through the fields by a stream and even a couple of "V" footbridges. Most of the woods are quite open after much recent tree felling.
If you carry on for a few hundred yards after the cache you will be able to see Flaxley Abbey, which is now privately owned.
The cache is a small/medium clip top box.
It goes without saying, but boots are essential during the wet season.
As a temporary measure, you could walk down the dismantled railway track at the start of the walk, rather than descending the steps. The track becomes less well kept after a while, but avoids the possibly muddy field. You'll have to exit via the metal gate if you go this way.
This cache is dedicated to departed four-legged friends.
