This cache has been archived.

MarkSun: This spot was great BUT floods a lot when we get heavy rain. I have had to replace logs if the did not dry & even replaced the cache 2 or 3x sine I placed it on Oct 30, 2006.

Today about 6 weeks short of 6 years later I got an e-mail from another geocacher asking since it currently "down" quite a while if I would Archive it open up the area so could put another cache in the area.

I replied yes .. time to late another a go at that are. I look forward to goa agere the new cache when it is place & Published.

Geocache Description:

Just short ride from my first cache "Marksun's magical micro tour #1" & another easy cache & go.

This one is along the Bronx River Parkway. Bronx River Preserve (in NY Parkway means NO Commercial Vehicles). See Alt. Parking coordiates if your vehicle is not allowed on the Parkway.

This IS NOT a problem as there is a permanent (paved) walking/bike path that runs near and along the almost the entire length of the Bronx River & the parkway. SO WATCH OUT FOR MUGGLES !!

There is a turn out that was a gas station long ago, but now is an info center open during the summer. You can park there & walk to the cache w/ in 2 min... .

During the summer they have "Bicycle Sundays". They close the Parkway to motorized traffic, from 10 am - 2 pm. It about a 7-8 mile stretch that is open for bike riding. If you happen to try on a "Bike Sunday" (which I believe now are May/June & Sept. & 2 weeks in Oct.) - great, but unless you are on a bike, you will not be able to drive to the info center.

I suggest using the Alt. parking coordinates. & walk the permanent path. it is about 0.4- 0.5miles from Alt. Parking to the cache. & you might have to cross the road from parking to the "path", so PLEASE BE CAREFUL !

I list stealth, because you can bee seen from the path as well as the parkway. Also in the summer growth may change to include thorns & bugs .... In winter w/ more then a few inches of snow it will hide the hiding place of the cache.

The cache is a small Lock & Lock plastic container in a Zip Loc Baggie w/ a log book & pencil. Starting Inventory is 'Buggin Bug TB, 3 - Pirates of Harriman hat pins, 1 - Green Geocache pin, 1 NYC skyline "crushed" penny, (AND for FTF & STF) 2 - Where's George Dollars (?G$1)
