An themed walking tour of Evergreen Park in Palo Alto with an easy micro cache at the end.
Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
There was a time when we relied on mail carriers for all communications, but times have changed. Telephones, TV, jet travel, FedEx and the internet have narrowed the postal contribution and made us less concerned about the weather. Relive the past by taking up your appointed rounds on a walking tour of mailboxes in the lovely Evergreen Park neighborhood in Palo Alto.
Take a pencil and paper so you can record the sorts of things a mail carrier should know: pickup times, mailbox ID’s, and other tidbits. Each waypoint is determined by calculating an offset from the current location using clues as indicated below.
At the end you will be rewarded with little surprise and a microcache. It is initially stocked with stamps and a few other trade goods to be delivered to other caches.
If you are not up for this challenge, don’t go postal, just choose a different career.

Let B = A – the number of mailboxes outside on street.
Obtain new N by subtracting 0.1A from current one.

Let D = product of same two digits.

Second stop:
Let E = First digit of address of location of express mail drop multiplied by last digit of this box ID.
Let F = difference between ID of this mailbox and the ID of the previous one.
Obtain new N by adding 0.E0 to current one.
Obtain new W by adding 0.0F to current one.
Third stop:
Let G = first digit of M-F pickup time.
Let H = G * half of number of eagles on this box.
Obtain new N by adding 0.1GH to current one.
Obtain new W by adding 0.0HG to current one.
Fourth stop:
Let J = last digit of block number on sign across the street.
Let K = first digit of M-F pickup time.
Let L = last digit of M-F pickup time.
Let M = last digit of sum of digits in ID number.
Let N = sum of M-F pickup time digits
Obtain new N by adding 0.JKL to current one.
Obtain new W by subtracting 0.JMN from current one.

As an additional challenge, find three Green Relay mailboxes on your way back to start. I’ve lived around here since the late eighties and have never seen then used.
Note: Don't mess with the mailboxes. First, there is no need to. You will only need to read readily available information to complete the cache. Second, tampering with the mail is a Federal offense.
